Apple’s iPhone will soon receive a more enterprise-friendly version of firmware and security enhancements, resulting in Gartner, Inc. recommending “appliance-level” support status once the improvements are released. During the initial launch of the iPhone, Gartner analysts expressed concern over some security issues with the device, but recently announced enhancements, expected to be delivered in June 2008, have caused Gartner to change its recommendation.

Apple yesterday announced that more than 100,000 iPhone™ developers have downloaded the beta iPhone Software Development Kit (SDK) in the first four days since its launch on March 6. BBC shows including Life on Mars, Spooks and The Mighty Boosh have today been made available to buy on the iTunes video store, as first revealed by The Register on Friday last week.
The move is part of a drive to increase the revenues brought in by the public broadcaster’s commercial arm, BBC Worldwide. The BBC charter allows Worldwide to exploit rights over via DVDs, magazines and other sales, and now downloads at £1.89 per episode.
