iXit launches mobile ticket booking service application for new smartphones
iXit (www.ixit.com) has launched its first commercial service providing effective content delivery to the new generation of smartphones.
Developed in conjunction with leading ticket agency UK Tickets, www.ukticketsmobile.co.uk is a booking service which quickly delivers relevant content to the mobile device and makes selecting a show and viewing performance times, theatre locations, ticket pricing and availability on your smartphone, simple, speedy and straightforward.
Tailored to the very specific needs of mobile users, the www.ukticketsmobile.co.uk service powered by iXit technology, selects and downloads only essential data from the data source – equivalent to 10% of the standard website – and formats it for the small screen. The user quickly gets just the information they want and avoids unnecessary graphics and banner ads which take longer to download and can rack up expensive data charges.
Currently optimised for iPhones, Gphones and Nokia S60 or newer, and smartphones running Symbian V3, the www.ukticketsmobile.co.uk service will soon be available as a device based application for the iPhone from the Apple App Store.
Andy Armstrong, CEO of iXit, said: “In today’s ‘instant access’ society people have a very low tolerance for delays in downloading web content to their mobiles. 98% of iPhone users want to access the internet from their phone and browse in the same way that they would on their PC or Mac. Research shows that up to 85% of smartphone users in the UK are dissatisfied with the web experience on their mobile. They simply want what they want, when they want it without the frustrating response times and painfully slow updates of time-critical information.”
iXit technology was developed using sophisticated delivery techniques, including Asynchronous JavaScript and XML (AJAX) to deliver small amounts of data at a time so that the page being viewed is updated incrementally without disturbing what you see.
